Deleting Your Account and Your Data
You can delete your Lenguia account, and the personal data stored with it, at any time through any of these channels:
- - In the Lenguia mobile app: open Settings and use "Delete account" in the danger zone.
- - On the web: https://www.lenguia.com/delete-account.
- - By email to info@lenguia.com from the email address associated with your account.
Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. It removes your account, your profile, and the personal data linked to it. We may retain a limited set of records where we are legally required to do so — in particular billing and invoice data that is subject to statutory commercial and tax retention periods.
Deleting your account does not by itself cancel a paid subscription. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, cancel the subscription in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. If you subscribed on our website, cancel in your account settings before deleting the account, or contact us at info@lenguia.com.
Log Files
To document your cookie consent among other things, Lenguia.com follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files include hashed internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, session IDs, date and time stamp, and referring/exit pages.
Cookies and Web Beacons
Like any other website, Lenguia.com uses 'cookies'. These cookies are used to store information including visitors' preferences and your login access.
Cookie Categories:
- Necessary Cookies: Essential for website functionality, including login sessions and security features. These cannot be disabled.
- Preferences Cookies: Remember your settings and preferences for a better user experience.
- Statistics Cookies: Help us understand how visitors interact with our website by collecting and reporting information anonymously (Vercel Analytics).

(Third Party) Privacy Policies
Lenguia.com's Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites. Thus, we are advising you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party ad servers for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain options.
You can choose to disable cookies through your individual browser options. To know more detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers, it can be found at the browsers' respective websites.
Lenguia is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any Personally Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13 — neither on Lenguia.com nor in the Lenguia mobile apps or the browser extension. If you think that your child provided this kind of information to us, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
Language Tutor Conversations
When you use the Language Tutor, your chat threads (your messages, the AI tutor's replies, the active mode, and the target language) are saved to your Lenguia account so you can return to them across sessions and devices. Threads are linked to your profile and are not shared with other users. You can rename or delete any saved thread from the tutor interface; deletion is permanent on our side. Conversation content is sent to the third-party AI providers listed in the "Service Providers (Data Processors)" section below for response generation as part of normal operation, and is not used for advertising or sold to third parties.
Lenguia Browser Extension
The Lenguia Browser Extension is an optional extension available for Chrome (and other Chromium-based browsers such as Edge, Brave, and Arc), Firefox, and Safari. It enhances your language learning experience by connecting web content to your Lenguia account. This section describes how the extension collects and uses data. The extension behaves identically across all supported browsers unless noted otherwise below.
Authentication: The extension reads the Lenguia authentication cookie from lenguia.com to keep you logged in. Your session tokens are stored locally in the browser's extension storage and are never transmitted to any third party.
Page Content: When you choose to save an article, the extension extracts text content from the currently active web page. This content is sent to lenguia.com for processing (translation, word classification, flashcard generation). The extension does not read or transmit page content unless you explicitly trigger the save action.
YouTube Transcripts: When you choose to import a YouTube video, the extension reads the transcript from the YouTube transcript panel on the page. This transcript text is sent to lenguia.com for processing. The extension does not access your YouTube account or any private YouTube data.
Netflix Subtitles: When you activate the Lenguia Reader on Netflix, the extension reads subtitle text displayed on the page to provide inline translations. Subtitle text may be sent to lenguia.com for translation. The extension does not access your Netflix account or any private Netflix data.
Permissions: The extension requests the following browser permissions (identical across Chrome, Firefox, and Safari):
- cookies: To read the Lenguia authentication session cookie from lenguia.com.
- storage: To cache your session, preferences, and configuration locally.
- activeTab / tabs: To identify the current page URL and title (e.g. to detect YouTube videos).
- scripting: To inject the article extraction script when you click Save Article.
- Host access to youtube.com and netflix.com: To extract transcripts and subtitles for language learning.
Data Storage: The extension stores your session tokens, user profile preferences, and cached configuration in the browser's local extension storage. This data stays on your device and is cleared when you log out or uninstall the extension. No data is sold or shared with third parties.
Chrome Extension
The Chrome version uses a Manifest V3 service worker for background processing. It injects a content script on YouTube pages to detect and extract video transcripts. The extension communicates only with lenguia.com and the Lenguia Supabase backend. It is also compatible with Chromium-based browsers including Microsoft Edge, Brave, Arc, and Vivaldi.
Firefox Extension
The Firefox version uses a Manifest V3 background script (as opposed to a service worker, per Firefox's extension architecture). It requests the same permissions and accesses the same data as the Chrome version. In compliance with Mozilla's Add-on policies, the Firefox extension declares the following data collection categories:
- Required: Authentication information (session tokens to keep you logged in) and website content (article text and transcripts you explicitly choose to save).
- Optional: Technical and interaction data (basic usage information to improve the extension).
Safari Extension
The Safari version uses a Manifest V3 service worker for background processing, similar to Chrome. In addition to the YouTube content script, the Safari extension includes a content script that runs on lenguia.com pages to facilitate communication between the website and the extension (e.g. for seamless login detection). It requests the same permissions and accesses the same data as the Chrome and Firefox versions. Safari requires macOS 13 or later.
Lenguia Mobile App
The Lenguia mobile apps for iOS and Android give you access to the same learning account as the website. This section describes what the apps collect and why. The apps contain no advertising SDKs and no third-party tracking or ad-attribution SDKs, they do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.
Account data: To create or use an account you provide an email address and password, or you sign in with Apple or with Google. Accounts and authentication are handled by our backend provider Supabase. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address (or Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide it) and the name you release to us, plus the authentication identifier that links your sign-in to your Lenguia account.
Microphone and voice recordings: The app uses the microphone only when you start a recording or a live conversation — during speaking practice, live conversation with the AI tutor, voice messages to the tutor, or the spoken part of the placement test. Your audio is transmitted to speech-processing and AI providers (Google, Inworld together with AssemblyAI, and LemonFox) so that it can be transcribed and so that the tutor can respond; this processing is performed to provide the feature you started. The resulting transcripts, corrections and feedback are stored with your Lenguia account so you can review them later, and you can delete them. The microphone is used only while one of these features is running, and your audio is never used for advertising and never sold.
Photos and documents: If you choose to upload an image (for example a book cover or an article image) or a document you want to import, the file and the text extracted from it are sent to the Lenguia backend and stored with your account. The app only accesses the items you select in the system picker; it does not scan your photo library.
Learning data: Your progress, flashcards, saved words, stories, articles, journals, exercises and tutor conversations are stored on our servers so they are available across your devices.
Purchases: Subscriptions bought inside the mobile app are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive or store your card details. We use RevenueCat to validate purchase receipts and to keep your subscription status in sync; RevenueCat receives your Lenguia account identifier and the purchase and receipt information supplied by the store, so that the subscription can be attached to the right account and restored on your other devices.
Diagnostics: Our servers keep technical logs of app requests (for example error messages and request metadata) to operate, secure and debug the service.
Deletion: You can delete your account and its data directly in the app under Settings, or on the web at https://www.lenguia.com/delete-account. See "Deleting Your Account and Your Data" above.
Service Providers (Data Processors)
We work with the service providers listed below to run Lenguia. They process personal data only on our behalf and only to the extent needed for their role.
