Methodology
This is the same test learners take inside Lenguia to start their study plan. It combines 35 multiple-choice grammar, reading and vocabulary questions with listening items on real recorded audio, 10 short writing prompts and 5 speaking prompts, ordered from A1 to C1.
Each skill is graded separately with a pass-threshold model. A level counts as passed when you earn roughly two-thirds of its points, and a skill's level is the highest level it passes in a row, starting from A1. A skill that doesn't pass A1 yet shows as Pre-A1. This rewards consistent competence rather than lucky guesses.
Your overall level is the middle of your skill levels, rounded down. Skills you skip are left out. Results range from Pre-A1 to C1 (the test does not grade C2).
The items are informed by the competency descriptors of the Council of Europe CEFR framework. This is a free self-assessment: results are a reliable orientation, not a certified proficiency measurement.

How accurate is this English cefr level test?
It uses the same item bank and pass-threshold scoring as the placement engine inside Lenguia's study-plan product, so the CEFR estimate is consistent and repeatable. Like any online self-assessment it is an orientation, not an official certificate.

Each skill is graded separately. Your overall level is the middle of your skill levels, rounded down. Skills you skip are left out. Your result also shows the level for each skill.
Can I retake the test?
Yes, as often as you like. Questions within each level are shuffled, and your latest result replaces the previous one on this device.
Do I need a microphone?
Only for the short speaking section. You can skip those questions and still get a level for the other skills.
